I have $80,000 in unsecured credit card loans. I have not been able to work due to sickness.?
my dear, i really feel for you. i'm not so sure about the reverse mortgage idea as it makes you ineligible for medicaid and possibly food stamps. i doubt that creditors can be delayed until you turn 62 when you're only 58 now. if you're currently living in the property with alot of equity, and the property is in your name, i doubt that the court would throw you out. however, they could place a lein on the property, and should you sell it, the debts would have to be paid in full from the proceeds. this works fine as long as you're alive and residing there..if your not residing there, it's up for grabs. consider filing for early social security, food stamps...depending upon your state regulations/openenings(economy's been pretty bad and some states have no openings.) consider renting out a room for extra income. god bless. hope this helps a little. in your case no heirs may be a blessing as you won't have anyone but yourself to care for. you may need medicaid and i'd check the qualifying rules for your state for residence/auto/bank accounts/ etc. and eligibility.
