I applied for a J-1 visa in UK, can i pick it up in Vancouver? any suggestions?

at the time i applied (Feb. 2009) I was living in Iran, where there are no US embies, now, i am a Canadian Permanent Resident, and i have received an email from London's office to send them my pport via SMS,(a courier service which works with the emby within UK). does anyone know if there's any other alternative to this situation so i wouldn't have to travel to UK? or whom should i contact about my problem??
