Why can't I be "tolerant" of ity, without wanting "gay marriage" to be enacted into law?

Christianity does not have a monopoly on marriage. Do you wish gays to be married in everything except the name? I personally think that's rather silly... just let them get married and call it marriage, for that's what it is. Nobody wants to force churches to perform marriages, so why not allow two loving adults to marry?
